This month’s meeting program will have two extended member fishing reports.

Tom Krause will describe Pennsylvania’s Special Regulations Trout Waters.

Tom has made exploring the Keystone state’s trout waters a long-term project.  He is working toward fishing all of the state’s Special Reg areas and will report on his progress, his approach and share some fishing spots that he has liked.

Tom grew up in Johnstown, PA where trout streams were few and far between due to Mine Acid Drainage.  As a result he started out mostly as a warm water fisherman.  Now Tom is an active member of WCFF who still loves smallmouth bass and musky fishing, but also does a lot of trout fishing.

False Albacore in North Carolina, Presented by the Albie Corps

A group of WCFF false albacore enthusiasts will describe a recent trip to pursue this saltwater speedster.  Fishing out of Harkers Island, NC the crew found warm weather and albies that were feeding on schools of baitfish at the surface.  The result was sunburned anglers with wide smiles as the small tuna took Atlantic silverside imitations.  What happens after the take is kind of a blur as the aggressive predators either make long runs deep into the backing or they snap off the flies tied on with 20lb tippets.
